Ingersoll & Disney Production
Disney Mickey Mouse watch is commonly considered by most people to be the first comic character wristwatch. Its history began in 1933, when the first Mickey Mouse watch was manufactured thanks to the Ingersoll and Disney partnership. Ingersoll (then called U.S. Time and now Timex) had the license to manufacture Disney watches from 1933 up until 1968.
The very first Disney Mickey Mouse watch was sold at Chicago World Fair on June 1933. "And an adorating public had to follow him, buying millions of that watches."

By 1937, sales of the Ingersoll Mickey was in decline, therefore, the company decided that a new design should be introduced to freshen the Mickey Mouse Watch line. From 1937 to 1942, Ingersoll modified their Mickey Mouse watches introducing several type of the popular lozenge shaped "tank" cases in art deco style. Also, instead the original three small Mickeys, the small seconds display had a common tiny hand.
This time, we are presenting an absolutely exquisite example, and perhaps the finest in circulation. Acquired from a collection where it was stored for more than 60 years, it is now out in public for the first time in a long time. The only unfortunate part of this watch is that the previous owner discarded the box, as it had fallen apart.
This UNIQUE timepiece is a vintage Ingersoll U.S. Time Mickey Mouse Walt Disney Production wrist watch from the late 1930's or early 40's, one of the first "new modern model" with a rectangular case (tank or tonneau shape) with stepped sides.
This watch is a perfect addition to any Disney collection! After 60 years, this watch still shows an almost perfect white dial depicts the Classic image of Mickey Mouse with animated hands. It has bold printed Arabic Numerals and minute marks; the second hand is located at 6. Also, the dial is signed with Ingersoll and Mickey Mouse names.
It is a 26.5mm width tank case with stepped side and lug design. We believe this watch is coming with the original black two-piece leather strap.
It has a standard pin lever hand winding movement, sub-second, US.A. made.
This watch is in LOVELY condition. It runs!

Vintage watches are traditionally smaller than today's watches. Men's watches typically measure between 29-36mm (some larger, some smaller) wide excluding the crown. In the listing details we typically try to do our best to list all pertinent dimensions of a watch. If you don't see it, or we failed to do so, please reach out to us. Women's watches from the 1900s-1970s were also somewhat smaller than today’s offerings in many cases. Please also feel free to ask any questions you have pertaining to size.
We prefer to shoot photographs outside when weather is permitting. However, when we shoot indoors, please be aware that we shoot our photographs inside of lightboxes that are lit with 360 LED bulbs. This indeed magnifies any flaws. Usually, they are much less obvious to the naked eye. Having said that, we never photoshop any of our photography, remove blemishes, etc. We adjust light, when necessary, but what you see is what you are getting, and we take pride in that.
